Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! It has been a long while since I've done one of these.

Today I'm linking up with Erika, Narci and Andrea to share some of my favorites from the week! I have some great things to share today, so don't go away.

I'm finding lots of great fall clothes this season! If only the weather here in Georgia would cooperate with the season, I would be able to actually wear these outfits! We're still hanging out in the high 80's, so layering is not ideal yet. You better believe that these outfits will be on repeat! I

Love, love, love this sweater! I find myself wearing it around the house because it's so light and so comfortable. It comes in 4 great color options, so be sure to snag one! I'm also loving this scarf pattern. I have a feeling it's going to be a popular pattern this year.

I shared all of the books that I read this summer earlier this week. Be sure to check out that post if you're in the market for a new book. I read some GREAT ones! You can find my book review here.

This bad boy arrived in the mail on Tuesday! I was SO excited to get an entire recipe book of crockpot goodies! It doesn't hurt that one of my favorite bloggers wrote it either. ;)

The first recipe that I made from this book was a chicken enchilada quinoa soup. Goodness gracious it was so, so good! I can't wait to try more. Definitely a favorite from this week.

That's it for the week, everyone! I hope you have a fantastic weekend, and I'll see you all here next week!

Summer Book Review {2017}

Happy Tuesday, all!

It seems that I've slacked quite a bit on my reading goals over the summer. I read 50% fewer books that I usually do in a month...but was a magical, exciting and busy summer, so I'm 100% okay with that.

I have some really good ones to recommend in this (very lengthy) post though, so sit tight!

First off, I'm aware that this is more of a "young adult" novel, but I was intrigued after seeing the trailers for the upcoming movie. This book was great! Not only was it a super quick and easy to read book, it was also very good! It has a story line that I've never read about before, and kept me interested the entire time.

Everything Everything is about a young girl who lives a life of quarantine and exclusion because of her severe health issues developed as a child. Once a new family moves in next door, Maddy finds it increasingly difficult to not wonder what lies behind her bedroom walls. Finding friends in the right places, help Maddy see that life might not be so dangerous after all.

I give this book a 3.5 out of 5

I'll preface this recommendation with the fact that I am not an over-the-top football fan, nor do I have any allegiance to Ohio State or Urban Meyer. Above the Line was a book that my boss required our leadership team at school to read before we came back for the summer. I was surprisingly impressed by the leadership lessons that Urban Meyer teaches in his book. After reading it, I truly felt compelled to become a stronger, and more effective leader in my school and in life.

Above the Line discusses the handwork and determination of Urban Meyer, and how he lead the Ohio State football team to a championship in 2014. He discusses some very interesting leadership qualities that one must live by, in order to be successful in their own endeavors. These lessons apply to every aspect of your life, not just on a football field. Through reading this book, I gained respect for Meyer, even though opinions about him aren't the greatest. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and suggest you grab it if you're looking to improve the leadership in your own life.

I give this book a 3 out of 5

Colleen Hoover does it again. If I haven't deemed her my favorite author yet, I'm yelling it from the rooftops now. I have now read 5 of her books (currently reading a 6th), and not one of them has disappointed me. I had heard mixed reviews of November 9, but holy cow! Do not believe anyone who says it's anything less than WONDERFUL.

November 9 is about Fallon and Ben and their commitment made to each other. After a chance meeting, Ben and Fallon commit to seeing each other on November 9th every year for 5 years. They cannot speak to each other any other day of the year except for November 9th. Their ever-growing attraction for each other might not be as unplanned as Fallon originally thinks. What did Ben do that keeps him so intrigued be Fallon?

I've had my eye on this novel for a few months now! A friend mentioned having read it, so I picked up a copy and did the same. I really liked how this book keeps you guessing who did it the entire time. I'm super into mystery books lately and this one did not disappoint! It's very reminiscent of Gone Girl, The Girl on the Train, and In a Dark, Dark Wood.

All the Missing Girls is about Nic, who has been away from her hometown of Cooley Ridge for ten years. Ten years prior, her best friend disappeared, never to be seen again. It's only until Nic gets news that her father is sick, that she returns to the town that shook up her life. While there, another teenage girl goes missing. Nic throws herself into the mystery and commits herself to finding out what's happening to the missing girls.

I give this book a 3.5 out of 5

I rarely preorder books. When I found out in February that Ruth Ware had a new book coming out, I hopped on Amazon and ordered MONTHS before it was set to be released! If you've read In a Dark, Dark Wood and The Woman in Cabin 10, then you'll love this book too. I'm already ready for her next one!

The Lying Game jumps from 4 best friends in present day London to their time together at boarding school. The 4 girls lived by "the lying game" with very strict rules. 1) Tell a lie. 2) Stick to your story. 3) Never get caught. The game gets the girls into major trouble that ultimately gets them kicked out of school. Ten years later, all have gone their separate ways. Three simple words bring all the girls back to their tumultuous past: I need you. Did their sick little game go too far and come back to haunt them?

I gave this book a 5 out of 5

Much like my conflict with It Ends with Us (which is VERY high on my list of favorite books this year), this book had be questioning my opinion through the entire book. This was the first book I read by Taylor Jenkins Reid, and will not be the last.

Emma and Jesse are SO in love. One in a million, true, unconditional love. On their first wedding anniversary, Jesse is called away for work. Jesse's flight goes missing over the Pacific and her true love is gone. After years of grieving, Emma runs into an old friend, whom she ends up falling in love with. Just when Emma feels like she's piecing her life together again, Jesse is found alive. How can Emma make sense of Jesse's reappearance and keep her life with Sam afloat?

I give this book a 5 out of 5

Colleen Hoover does it again in Ugly Love. There aren't any words other than buy as many of her books as possible.

Ugly Love is about Tate and Miles, who don't have the most traditional of relationships. Fiercely attracted to each other, but not looking for commitments is their motto. As Tate's feelings grow, Miles doesn't stray from his strict rules that they both established in the beginning. Finding out the reasons behind Miles' closed off demeanor is truly devastating and beautiful. Do Miles and Tate have it in them to break down barriers and follow their hearts?

I give this one a 5 out of 5 (shocker, I know)

Sorry, ya'll. I was on a roll with this babe this season. I couldn't get enough. I promise one I get back to my monthly book reviews, it won't be so Colleen Hoover heavy. Maybe just one book each month ;) Maybe Someday didn't disappoint at all, and I loved it just as much as I liked the others!

Sydney thinks she has it all! Great boyfriend (so she thinks), steady job, and rooming with her best friend. It's only when she finds out that her boyfriend is cheating on her with....her BEST FRIEND, that she gets forced to move in with her acquaintance, Ridge. The two quickly form a great friendship that may cross some lines, but are they justified? Sydney needs Ridge as a distraction from her ex-boyfriend, and he needs her for something that he will never be able to have for himself.

I give this book a 5 out of 5

Okay you guys! That was it! All of the books that I read from June to September. I'm going to get back on track for the month of October and share my October books at the end of the month.

Let me know if have any recommendations!!

Las Vegas

Today was going to be my leap back into the blogging world, but I can't bring myself to post anything fun today. I can't stop thinking about those innocent lives lost in Las Vegas last night. Our world is so full of darkness right now. I encourage everyone to take a break from posting about sports and politics, and think about the things that matter most in this world. Hug your friends and family, and don't let a day go by without letting people know how much they mean to you.

My heart is with each and every person affected by this horrible tragedy.

The Most Magical Day

Happy Friday, friends!

We're dedicating this Friday Favorites to one very special day. A day that deserves to the the one and only Friday Favorite this week.

As some of you know, Ryan and I decided to forgo the "traditional" wedding, and fly away to Italy and tie the knot there. Well, I can't even describe how perfect it was. Words would never be able to accurately describe what that day was for both of us. Instead of telling you all about it, I'm going to leave it to the pictures to explain.

There are some of the preview pictures that we were given, and have many more coming in the next few months.

Here was our beautiful wedding ceremony in Positano, Italy!

Playing Catch Up

Happy Wednesday, friends!

I have to apologize to you all because I've been slacking quite a bit on my blog posts!

I promise I'll make it up to you with some crazy/amazing information!

Other than my May book review, the last time I updated you all, I had just gotten engaged! I couldn't have imagined how amazing of a feeling it is to know I get to spend the rest of my life with Ryan.

My heart is so full.

In beginning the wedding planning process, we both knew that we didn't want a "traditional" wedding. We played around with the idea of a destination wedding, and had the CRAZY idea of tying the knot while we're in Italy (a vacation we already had booked for next week).

You guys, the planning just took off and after 2 short months of being engaged, we're getting married in Italy this Saturday! Can you believe that?!

This Saturday, we will be on that terrace saying "I do."

We begin our trip in Naples for a few days, get married along the Amalfi Coast, then head north for some more fun stops. I'll keep those spots a secret for now, until I can recap our vacation for you all here.

So that's why my posts have been so far a few between-planning an international wedding can be tough!

I promise you'll get a full recap when we return, wedding photos and all! If you want to follow along on our trip, be sure to catch me over on Instagram, where I'll be posting pictures and Instastories!

Talk to you all soon!

May Book Review {2017}

Sorry, friends! I've been kind of MIA for a bit. I promise to catch everyone up on all things Leslie this week! There are some VERY exciting things happening over here! I can't wait to catch everyone up!

I couldn't miss a month of book reviews, so here I am. I have some great books to report this month and I hope that you can add them to your lists too.

If you missed my other books review of 2017, you can find them here:

The first book of the month was a home run.

Cancel the wedding is already at the top of my list for best books that I've read this year. Holy cow, you guys.  Not only does Cancel the Wedding take place in the good ol' state of Georgia, but the romance in this book is heart warming. I couldn't put this one down!

Cancel the Wedding is about Olivia, who is responsible to spread her mom's ashes in Huntley, Georgia. She and her sister know nothing about their mother's past, and go on a mission to find out all the secrets to her life. Along the way she meets Elliot, who makes life far more complicated than it had been before.

I give it 5 out of 5 stars!

Dark Matter was one. interesting. book. While I don't usually enjoy super sci-fi books, this one I thoroughly enjoyed! It takes a little bit to get used to the science terminology and concepts, but once you's really good!

I give this one 4.5 out of 5 stars!

Sharp Objects was recommended by a friend who knows that I like mystery books. It's written by the same author as Gone Girl, and in my opinion, just as good. Just when you think you have this book all figured out, it surprises you once more.

Sharp Objects is about Camille Preaker, a reporter sent to her hometown to discover the secrets about why young teenage girls are getting murdered. Between her neurotic mother and her crazy young sister, she finds it very difficult to balance her personal life with her career. She finds answers in places that she probably doesn't want to find.

I give this one a 4 out of 5 stars.

The Couple Next Door was one that I've had my eye on for a while! A friend read it before me and said that I needed to pick it up ASAP.

This book was a super easy read, as I got through it in about 2 days. It kept me engaged the entire time and I never wanted to put it down. The mystery keeps you guessing until the very last sentence. Literally.

Anne and Marco Conti seem to have it all. They have a beautiful family and home. One night, their invited over to a dinner party next door with some friends. While over at the dinner party, a terrible crime is committed leaving the Conti's feeling very guilty. The even bigger problem is that the rest of the town sees them as guilty as well. Will the detectives find out who committed the crime?

I have LOTS to catch all of you up on! There have been wedding plans set and I cannot wait to share them all with you soon!

Happy Tuesday!

I meant to write this post yesterday, but I was sliiiightly distracted, because...

on Sunday, we got ENGAGED!

Y'all. I did not see this coming AT ALL. I always thought that after being together for so long,  that I would see it coming a mile away. Nope. Ryan planned it in a way that wasn't on my radar at all.

On Sunday he requested that we hike the mountain that's near our home. We do this every now and then, so it wasn't a strange request. We grabbed sandwiches and headed to the mountain for a hike on a BEAUTIFUL day.

Once we got to the top of our hike, we chatted a bit and played around with the dog. After a while, he  asked if we should head back and I agreed. On the way down, there was a bench off to the side over looking our entire town. We sat for a rest and then Ryan asked if I could take a picture of him with Romeo (our dog) with the view in the background. Of course I wanted to because I had been snapping pictures of the dog all day.

After acting slightly awkward for a few minutes (I guess there were people passing by), Ryan got down on one knee and asked if I would spend the rest of my life with him. With tears pouring down my face, I said yes!

It was such an emotional, beautiful and perfect moment that I'll cherish forever.

A passerby asked if he could take a picture for us.

My beautiful ring

I'm on cloud 9 this week. I'm just floating through life in the best way possible.

I feel like I can't even have a complete thought at this point because I'm just so happy.

Just a little happiness for your Tuesday!

Friday Favorites {5.5.17}

It's Fri-yay, everyone! I could do some kinda happy dance this morning!

Just like every Friday, I'm linking up with Erika, Narci, and Andrea to share our favorites from the week!

Let's jump right in!

I've recently become obsessed with Poshmark. Poshmark is a site that allows users to sell name brand items for lower prices. You can really find some hidden gems within the website once you get looking! I just bought a pre-owned (excellent condition) Tory Burch wallet for only $60! What a steal!

You know how I mentioned being in love with rompers lately? Well, I've ventured out and tried a jumpsuit. I am in love with this super comfy one piece. Not only is it cozy, but it can be made to look more dressy by pairing it with cute wedges and jewelry. I bought it in olive green.

Find it here

I started working on my home office/craft room this past weekend. I made this super handy jewelry holder to store all of our inventory. There's another one going up next to it, and smaller ones on the other side. More on how to make these next week!

Want to shop our jewelry? Find it here

I am freaking out you guys! The Erin Condren 2017-2018 Life Planner is here!! If you don't know what I'm talking about, visit this website and you'll immediately fall in love! I have been a die hard EC fan for about three years now. I wouldn't be able to live without this baby.

Find them here

I recently found this top and had to buy it! I can't wait until it gets here! Doesn't it look so comfy and cute?
